The Health and Safety Newark Leadership Roundtable has ended. Watch the livestream here.
Our NLRS Education Roundtable is entitled “Increasing the Return on Our Investment in Higher
Education”. This roundtable session will delve into what is necessary to help our youth attain a
higher education that is relevant, marketable and well rounded in today’s urban society.
We will also explore all of the various alternatives that exist in higher education today, and
which of these alternatives provide the greatest value to our young graduates. We will also look
at the growing importance of technical training and on the job training necessary to secure a job
in today’s marketplace. We also want to discuss the continuing importance of broad based
liberal arts education and it’s role in helping students learn to think critically and obtain a solid
base of marketable knowledge.
The Positive Community has worked closely with The Newark Alliance to create a robust
roundtable discussion about what it takes to make Newark the leader and role model in higher
education.
The Education Newark Leadership Roundtable will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at The
Newark Club from 9AM to 2PM. A light breakfast will be served, followed by a talk from our
key note speaker and the roundtable discussion and a luncheon to follow. The roundtable
discussion will be done in a conversational, fast paced format and will feature a distinguished
panel of leaders in higher education (state, municipal, private, trade, and online) as well as
professionals who lead in career training in the areas of technology and infrastructure.
The audience will consist of key experts across the field of higher education to help to fuel a
lively but informed discussion during the audience Q&A segment. Our plan is that this
combination of thought leaders will spark innovative ideas that will serve to shape healthier
communities on a national level.
